An Adam Sandey, first half hatrick, contributed to a comprehensive win for the men's 5s at the University of Bath. The home team dominated from the start with the midfield of Fursdon, Sandey, Blake and Gustard pressing Devizes and winning the ball back high up the pitch. Rog White created two great chances with runs in to the D to find Sandey who finshed well. The back line of Uddin, Loughran and Purchase snuffed out any danger from the visitors, with Pell in goal a spectactor for much of the opening exchanges. Two furhter goals were added by Loughran and Sandey - completing his hatrick - but a lack of concentration allowed Devizes to get one back before the break as a bouncing ball beat Pell at his near post.

Buccs again pressed high from the start of the second half although struggled to find the fluid hockey shown in the first half. Despite this chances for Kelly and Sandey were well saved by the Devizes keeper. However, Buccs started to settle again and Gustard made it 5-1 with a reverse hit strike. Kelly and Loughran had added a further two goals, when captain Blake fired home to make it 8-1.

Tougher games are ahead, but this was a good foundation to work with.
