Another wet and windy walk before the game, and a slight changing room flood, and the Ladies 1XI were ready to take on Basingstoke. A goal in the first quarter shouldn’t have come as a surprise, as we were well on top of them. However, despite our best efforts, it took a stren talking to from Rob (I shall leave the language to the reader’s imagaination) at half time to really get us into gear. Although we were 2-0 up, it seemed we let off the gas a bit in the fist half. With the second half came a drastic change, and the ladies really pushed for a good win. The Q3 curse was conquered yet again, with THREE GOALS!! There were many commendable goals, and the best celebration went to Cari Davies, who put her hands in the air like she just didn’t care. My personal favourite goal came from Issy Chaudhry, who scored a gorgeous reverse hit, which made her vary happy. It must also be noted we managed to convert a short corner - although it didn’t quite go to plan, but a goal’s a goal. Moment of the match goes to Issy Usher, who, after a lovely counterattack, managed to smash the aggressive keeper on thr pads. The keeper went down as if she’d been shot, clutching her comfortably padded leg in pain, and the confusion on Usher’s face said it all. The girls were pleased with the win, and although the performance was inconsistent at times, we capitalised on their mistakes, and were clinical in front of goal.
Regards,
Bella - apologies to Basingstoke, theres a big puddle in changing room 11.
