It was forecasted to be an exciting game and that is exactly what we got and and more against Canterbury on Sunday.
TBB got off to the better start and dominated the opening five minutes with good breaks and circle penetrations. Against the run of play, Canterbury opened the score in the 7' through Rasmussen when he reverse tapped in off a Goalkeeper rebound.
TBB equalised in the 12' from a Loughrey inch perfect penalty corner drag flick when went in high off the post. They took the lead in in the 16' following a great run by Heywoth who scythed through midfield and swerved defenders in the circle to set up Renwick who spun and netted the ball over the oncoming goalkeeper. TBB took a 3-1 lead in the 28' on penalty corner variation with Stone converting low into the corner. TBB let things slip at the end of the first half when they were caught on the counter attack and disappointedly conceded a second goal just before the whistle when Rasmussen got his second with a reverse shot to make it 3-2.
The second half was just as entertaining but TBB conceded another goal in the 42' when Rasmussen got his had trick deflecting a cross over the goalkeeper. Both sides went all out for a winner with opportunities going a begging. TBB were awarded a penalty stroke with Loughrey's effort being save brilliantly saved. Stone hit the post with a penalty corner drag flick and Rawlings missed a one on one chance against the Canterbury goalkeeper. At the other, TBB's defence held firm with Foxall - Smith saving well and Jackson deflecting a penalty corner drag flick over the bar in a series of retakes.
The match ended 3-3. It could have gone either way so all in all, a fair result for in exciting and entertaining game for supporters from both sides.
Our next game is at home against Old Cranleighans Sunday 20-November. Start time 1300 hrs.
