Team Bath Buccs 2 Old Cranleighans 2
Team Bath’s hopes of keeping on the toes of table toppers Southgate HC diminished after bad discipline allowed the visitors to take advantage when Buccs were reduced to 10 players.
The game started with Buccs controlling the game and should have taken the lead when Scotty Rawlings beat the oncoming keeper only to put his shot wide. Moments later Oskar Edwards scored his first NL goal with a deflected shot. Buccs then had another easy chance to score from a deflected penalty corner. Alex Renwick unlucky to see his shot cleared off the line.
With so many opportunities unconverted it was no surprise when the away team scored from their first open play shot. A good hit from will Heywood was enough to beat the Buccs keeper.
Late in the 3 rd quarter, with Buccs down to 10 men Old C’s took full advantage and from a PCA they fired the ball to the right and scored again. Buccs rallied and Jackson somehow deflected a looping ball into the top netting of the goal. With a PCA hitting the post it was just not going to be Buccs day.
With both sides looking for a win, Josh Heyworth came close when his rasping flick after beating the keeper was incredibly saved off the line. Old C’s celebrated the draw. Buccs reflected on another opportunity spurned to secure 3 points.
Buccs travel to Brighton next weekend which will be the last match before the Christmas break.
