Men 5th vs Keynsham

The men's 5 made the short trip to Keynsham for their first fixture of the season. A mix of players had been assembled from the M5,6,7 and 8s by the skipper Rob Cooke. Despite a not too confident start when Keynsham created a number of chances, Buccs grew into the game with the midfield of Cooke, Mcdonald, Hancock, Yound (Andy) and Hunnibel taking control. Marcus Bowman and Henry Young linked up well as part of the forward line and it was Bowman who openned the scoring with a great finish tomake it 1-0 to the visitors. Keynsham leveled from a penaty corner and at half time it was 1-1. A tactical change by Keynsham in the second half allowed then to take control of the game and put the back three of Peden, Pike and Pellow under pressure. Fortunatley. Newman in goal was in great form although he was not able to prevent Keynsham taking the lead. Buccs responded well to the set back and started to put the Keynsham midfield under pressure and win the ball back high up the pitch. A quick break allowed Buccs to get a penalty corner which was finished off by Young to make it 2-2. Young then was unlucky not to get a second when a break down the right allowed him to force his way to goal and finish, only for the umpire to disallow it for a contact with the body. Hunnibel created a number of excellent chances as he worked hard to break the line form midfield and his performance overall gave him the deserved man of the match award. A good start to the season with promise shown.
