Saturday began as all Saturdays do, with a car full of hungover students all excited for a trip to the beach.
So excited in fact, that Rhydian decided to put the blue lights on to cruise up the M5 at triple digit speed, only to still be late for the meet time. The team arrived at the UKs most inland beach, with the pitch being so threadbare you could almost see the tide coming in.
The game began with us conceding to a quick break from their chunky Ex-National league player. Unfortunately our chunky Ex-national league player couldn’t mirror his barrelling marches up the pitch.
We quickly came back with Sherry ensuring that any shots on target were cradled into the net with a baseline tap in.
The first half continued with us going 2-1 up with a shot from BT.
UNFORTUNATELY the first half saw us finish 2-2 and a man short after a reverse hit top bins and a green card for Asher.
The second half was slightly more composed (that or the hangovers had just hit us with a vengeance), with another tap in goal this time from James Way (He had realised that to score while Sherry is on the pitch you have to beat him at his own game). Sadly we were unable to successfully “Park the bus” as it likely lost traction coming over the top of the sand dunes, with their only decent player on the team taking every single one of us to school. After going for a walk around our D, beating about 6 players, he slotted it bottom corner and secured a truly undeserved draw.
A special mention for the second half, was Ali’s incredibly weak attempt at chopping the ankles off of the other team after already giving a foul. Honestly I didn’t agree with the green… it probably should have been a yellow.
The only redeeming factor for the day was the best match teas I have ever laid my Lardy eyes on. Believe me, I will be putting forward a suggestion to the lime tree…
