On a rather strangely warm Autumnal afternoon, requiring facial accessories more suited for the better looking Tom (referring to Tom Crusie) the squadron of TBB 4’s assembled ready for our deployment briefing by leader Blake-Steele. With the elite fighters prepared for battle, they took the field.
What was to follow could very closely be referred to as a dog fight. Both teams finding it hard to get a strong footing on the game. TBB played some nice build up play to get the Wootton-Under-Edge goal in the firing line.
With all shots missing their intended targets, with a quick flick of the joy stick and a push forward of the acceleration it was Wotton that turned defence into a counter, winning the first short of the game, which they duly converted. The rest of the half followed suit with elite fighters having their shots missing the intended target. Squadron TBB 4’s going in at the half 1-0 down.
A quick return to base, a pep talk and slight change in the attack plan by squadron leader Blake-Steele and and civilian trainer Sweets (thankfully none of the many Tom’s are romantically involved with) the squadron were ready to hit the sky’s again. This time with more impertous in their attacks and the rockets released from the wings of the fighters now starting to hit their targets it was one rocket in particular from the aircraft of Sam Waker that finally broke through the defences of the enemy lodging itself in the top right corner of the mother ship!
What followed was an intense period where fighters from both sides had to return home to refuel their aircraft, in which some were longer than others. It was the squadron lead by Blake-Steele that finally found the grove, now consistantly raining rockets down on the enemy base.
The war was coming an end with the enemy attacks beginning to fizzle out and focusing more on their defensive capabilities. A golden opportunity then presented itsself for the one and only Russian Walsh to release a rocket off his own from close range. After taking a helping hand from an enemy aircraft, it broke through the defence to penetrate the mother ship once more.
The war was over with squadron TBB 4’s coming away victorious 2-1, the winning streak continues and the fight continues for control over the rest of the worlds air space, with Gloucester the next enemy.
Most attacking aircraft goes to that of Tom Loughran and the one requiring more time in the simulator yours truely
