Men 5th vs City of Bath 2

Excellent disciplined, high intensity performance and win for the 5s away to CoBs.

An early start for the 5s away to City of Bath 2s with an ask that despite the time that we start awake and with intensity. To support this Marty's new Y1 electronic clip board was deployed to ensure strategy and tactics were well understood.

Our warm-up was high in intensity and so we started the game in the same fashion. Dominating possession and chances. Some lovely hockey on display across the positions with our right flank of Jan and Oliver causing havoc to the CoB defence. We kept their keeper busy and then via a sweet short corner routines (Henry's mum has the video evidence!) the opener was dispatched by Jan.

We went in 1-0 really pleased with our intensity and discussed a few areas to tweak for the second half. Marty deployed the Y1 electronic clip board again.

We started the second half as we finished the first dominating territory, possession and chances. The midfield four of Otto, Ben H, Chris H and Jan gave them few opportunities to break out and so CoB resorted to aerial tactics. However, the defense of Marty, Dan H and Matt made sure that this was blunted and gave away ZERO penalty corners. Ben P in goal made a highly important save at a critical time and remained alert and vocal.

A fine move which included a transfer, high line pass and then perfect square from Marcus led to Henry expertly dispatching our second.

We continued to make chances although the lightness of subs showed a little with CoB attacking with verve. They scored a goal which I can't recall much about and then we remained calm, composed and strong as a team to see out the game.

A brilliant team performance with high intensity from the start and execution of the game plan we set out. A well-deserved player of the match for Jan although there were a number of standout performances across the team. Well done everyone!
