Primary Schools Taster Day 2025

On Friday, 28th November, TBBHC was delighted to welcome approximately 100 primary school children from school years 4 and 5 to our club. The children represented a range of local schools, including Combe Down Primary School, Oldfield Park Junior School, Widcombe Infant School, and Batheaston Primary School. This event formed an integral part of the club’s ongoing Community Outreach Programme, which has now entered its second year.

Activities and Structure of the Day

The day began with all participants coming together for a lively mass warm-up session. Following this, the children were divided into smaller groups, preparing them for the next stage of activities. The groups then took part in Carousel Hockey, a rotating system where players moved through different stations. At each station, they enjoyed engaging games or hockey-based exercises designed to develop their skills and encourage teamwork in a fun, supportive environment.

After an energetic morning, everyone paused for lunch, providing a well-earned break for both the children and the coaches. The afternoon session resumed with a series of small-sided games between the groups, allowing the children to put their newly acquired skills into practice. Naturally, the coaches could not resist the opportunity to join in the games alongside the children, adding to the enjoyment and community spirit of the day.
